Commission Artwork

I am thrilled to do commissions because it causes be to think outside my own frame of reference.

If you have any questions on commissioning an artwork please review the information below an/or e-mail me for any other information.

Like my style

First of all, you should be completely happy with my unique artistic style and that it is suitable for the work you wish me to create. Also, my past artworks are an indicator of the style, and quality of your final finished commissioned artwork.

Step 1:

I'll discuss the commission with you to discover the underlying soul or philosophy which forms the foundation of the artwork.

The final price depends on your budget which will effect the size and complexity of the work. There is a 10% or $100 preliminary charge to secure my services (this payment is subtracted from the final cost of the work)

Step 2:

I'll gather reference materials and undertake the research required to create the individual elements of the commission. This might involve taking photographs, making on-site sketches, and anything else that will be included in the artwork. You can help the process along by providing as much inspirational reference material as possible.

I'll then create a 'rough visual' of the artwork for your approval. The rough visual gives you an indication of the final composition and colors to be used.

This means that you get to see what the artwork will look like even before it is painted!

Step 3:

Upon approval of the rough visual I will proceed to work on the final artwork.

Delivery of the commissioned artwork

When the artwork is completed I will freight or personally deliver it to you along with a certificate of authenticity.

A Note on commissioning an artwork

Commissioning an artwork is a highly personal decision that will bring a lifetime of enjoyment.

An artwork has the ability to capture the unique style of the subject through creative uses of materials and colors. Many people commission artworks to capture a particular time in their lives or a subject that has special significance.

As an artist, I am proud to offer my lifetime of artistic experience, training and personal vision to the process of creating artworks.

The costs associated with a commissioned artwork are related to the materials used (paint, pastel, paper, canvas) , the time involved in creating a finished artwork (up to 100 hours), plus drying time if oils, and the years of experience necessary to become proficient.

Artworks can be created from photographs. Using several photographs to capture the subject by combining the images to form one unique artwork. I prefer to take my own reference photographs or sketches. If this is not possible, I will work from photographs taken by the patron.

List of things to consider before submitting:

Do you have a topic or theme you wish me to explore?

Can you see any artworks on the Tomicide Art site that you would like to use as a guide?

How many artworks do you need?

What size(s) do you want your artworks?

Where is the artwork to be exhibited? (For e.g., if the room is dark you may need brighter colors).

Do you have any special colors you want me to include in the artwork?

If the artwork is a painting, do you prefer it on paper, board or canvas?

What is your budget?

Do you have a set time-frame?

A note about copyright
Even though you have commissioned an artwork the copyright for the final artwork remains with the artist. This means that you cannot reproduce this artwork without written permission from the artist.

Limited Edition Prints

I can also create limited edition prints from the commissioned artwork.

Limited edition prints make great gifts. Print can be individually signed and numbered with a certificate of authenticity.
